Wadi Mujib, nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Jordan, is a vast river canyon draining into the Dead Sea. Its slot sections demand real canyoning, wading and swimming through emerald pools between towering cliffs.
The Siq Trail is the most popular short route; longer canyons need a guide and permit. The park closes in winter when flash floods are a risk.
Plan your Wadi Mujib visit
Wadi Mujib is famous for canyoning and water-based adventure in a dramatic gorge above the Dead Sea. Conditions can change quickly because access depends on water levels, weather and seasonal safety decisions.
Choose activities according to the official conditions and your experience. Water shoes or secure footwear, suitable clothing, sun protection and a dry bag can be useful, but the operator or reserve should have the final say on equipment and access requirements.
Do not enter a canyon route when it is closed or when weather creates flash-flood risk. If a route is seasonal, treat the published opening period as a safety rule rather than a suggestion.
