Shobak Castle, also known as Montreal, is one of Jordan's oldest Crusader castles, less restored and gloriously atmospheric than Kerak. Crumbling walls, deep galleries and silent courtyards lie scattered over a fortified hill near the desert road.
There are no crowds, just views and ruins. Climb the passages carefully.
